Elegance and "un" Civil War

We spent two nights in Charleston South Carolina, enjoying the warmth, (only the mid 70's but it felt so nice to us!) and the Southern Hospitality.

We took a city tour through the historic district.

an enjoyable way to get an overall picture of the city of old,

If you remember your Civil War history, the first shots fired were at Ft Sumter.
It's out there in the distance (for some reason I expected it to be closer to shore). Go figure!

According to our guide, Charleston never surrendered. Lovers of revisionist history!!!!
This statue honors the "Defenders of Charleston"

This is one of several of the actual cannons used by the Confederate Army.

This is just a fun picture to end this post. A T-Bird with Eyelashes!!!!

Don't Stop Beleivin' ...a Gleeful experience...

We had a little unexpected excitement in Atlantic City as we were preparing to take the Total Rewards Shuttle to the Boardwalk. A ninety year old woman was getting on, lost her balance and fell back onto the sidewalk, hitting her head very hard. I was looking in another direction so I didn't see it happen, but I heard her head hit the cement! An ambulance eventually arrived - the woman never lost consciousness and there was no blood, but she certainly must have a concussion!

Since the shuttle had to wait, we weren't eye witnesses, and we had show tickets, we ended up taking the Jitney (small A.C. buses) - always an experience - it's like a roller coaster ride! We hadn't taken one in many years and thought "maybe they've improved" - not!

We enjoyed a show at the Tropicana called "Always Believe - A Tribute to Glee". Great show! Made me think about watching the show on demand. (We never watched it while it was running.

Our next stop is in the Town of Wilson, NC, an appropriate stop since our son in law in Rochester's last name is Wilson (also our daughter's of course)!

The Journey continues --- extra points if you get the pun here!

First Stop

Atlantic City New Jersey was our first stop on this adventure.

Our third passenger, Thing2, tried to take a selfie as we approached the Atlantic City exit on the Garden State Parkway. If you look real close, you can see the green Atlantic City sign.

We're staying at Harrahs, but went to the comedy show at Borgata.
We always enjoy their show -- an hour and a half laughing is guaranteed fun!

Fun, fun, fun.....

What better way to start a vacation that ends up in Key West than to see the Beach Boys in concert!!!
We saw them last night and even though we had horrible seats,

it felt great to be there, bringing back the memories of lazy days of high school summers when the cares of the world were far away.
All we wanted to do was have fun fun fun.....

It was a time of fast cars

& surfing safaris (even if they were only in your mind)

The songs were so familiar, I actually was a little hoarse at the end of the concert - too much singing along I guess.

Sadly, the original members were hoarse throughput the concert - when you reach a certain age it's hard to keep doing falsettos...

Wouldn't it be nice if we were younger!!!!

Anyway, they played for over an hour and a half, and the crowd loved it - M & I included!

If you get a chance to see them in concert, you won't go wrong.
