Magnolia Plantation - Charleston, South Carolina

We visited this plantation and had an amazing tram ride through the grounds. This used to be a rice plantation -- think Carolina Rice.

One of the oddities of this place
involves a previous owner who died in 2002, was cremated and had his remains inserted into a tree (see the box in the picture below)
Don't know what happens if (or when) the tree dies!!!

We also took a walking tour through some of the grounds.
Here's our guide, Jeff.

We spent about 3 and 1/2 hours there -- actually could have spent much longer -- you can wander around on your own -- just watch out for gators!!!

The house is lovely, but nothing when compared to the Newport mansions.

The plantation also has allegedly one of the world's most photographed bridges.

True or not, it's a nice photo - op!
